Renee Christian is a published author with Rewritten Realms and staff writer for both online magazines, In The Pantheon and In The Crescent. She is also published in another anthology with Write Of Passion. She is currently working on a Dark Fantasy trilogy, as well as working on a series about Druids and various pantheons. If you can't find her behind her desk writing up a storm, she's probably out hiking or canoeing with her family.
I looked into the pool at the reflected moon and caught my face looking back at me. Darkened over and cold, I realized what must change…me. I closed my eyes and exhaled, a cold breath of air rushed out in a cloud. I have a home, a family. They are here with me.
“What? NO, Akti!” I closed the distance between us and took her in my arms once more, her eyes filled with confusion and pain. “Artemis, look at me.” I took her face in my hands. “Artemis, you are my HOME…my light.”
She looked up at me from where she had rested her head and stroked my cheek. “I’m so glad you’re here, Sel. I’m so worried about Sayeh, but having you by my side is comforting. Would you stay by my side tonight?”
I giggled nervously and suddenly felt like an idiot. How does she make me feel this way and lose myself? I took another swig of my drink and turned towards Artemis, ready as I was going to be for our very public first kiss.
Helios was released, suddenly and hard. He staggered back, staring at his unmarked flesh, rubbing it as the pain receded. His eyes lifted to the black obelisk as it vanished from sight, no longer needed. Helios is bound – Above, Below, and Between. Flesh, Blood, and Bone – forever.
“No one is in trouble, Eos. It’s good news.” I gulped, trying to figure out how to tell her but not lie to her. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and continued, “I spoke with Persephone and Hades. We get to see him.”
