A Day in the Life
“Mark, Mark, this isn’t my job, it’s your publicity manager’s job. I thought you had an idea for me.”
Ah, dear, beautiful mortals: I am the Titan Selene. I feel the energy of the night and the joy in you mortals. It feeds me and makes me glow. As much as I love spending time with you, it infuriates me when you are arrogant and wasteful creatures.
“Mark, Mark, this isn’t my job, it’s your publicity manager’s job. I thought you had an idea for me.”
“So, Selene,” he said, wagging his eyebrows at me. “How do I get to know you better?” he leaned forward and reached for me.
“Who has him,” I shouted, “and what do they want?” “You’ll find out soon enough.”
I craned my head around to take in my surroundings, and I saw Helios kneeling, bent over Endymion, holding his head in his lap.
I was about to whisper my intentions to the couple when a tall, dapper gentleman approached us, took my hand from the woman’s hip, and pulled me away.
“Who doesn’t matter, and no, I haven’t seen Helios. Now, thanks to you, I won’t be able to,” she spat, pure hatred and disdain dripping from her words.
Eos smiled wryly at my thought process and released my back. “That’s what I thought you’d say.”
Reginald replied, “Just step back, missy. I know who you are, and I know what you want. You are not taking this cool drink of water without a fight.”
“You’re a Titan, a goddess, and all over the world in the blink of an eye. I can’t expect to be the only one, much less, enough for you.”
Artemis winced, feeling a tinge of jealousy prick at her when Selene said she was a ‘unique combination’ with Ares.
The mere thought of being with Helios again filled me with such joy, but Persephone brought me back to reality with one simple thought.
Do you think it easy to be under your roof, Zeus? One of the few Titans here? Especially with all the doubt during the second rising? But I am here, and I am acknowledging you as the King.
She was never going to change. I truly felt that from her. Her hatred for Zeus and the Olympians flowed through her, the same way she lit up the sky, burning from within.
“No one is in trouble, Eos. It’s good news.” I gulped, trying to figure out how to tell her but not lie to her. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and continued, “I spoke with Persephone and Hades. We get to see him.”
Surprise and anger flared in Helios’ eyes. He stood rock still but did not lower his gaze. I could hear Persephone speaking to him as I buried my face in my hands.
