A Titan for a Titan, Part I
The mere thought of being with Helios again filled me with such joy, but Persephone brought me back to reality with one simple thought.
The mere thought of being with Helios again filled me with such joy, but Persephone brought me back to reality with one simple thought.
Do you think it easy to be under your roof, Zeus? One of the few Titans here? Especially with all the doubt during the second rising? But I am here, and I am acknowledging you as the King.
She was never going to change. I truly felt that from her. Her hatred for Zeus and the Olympians flowed through her, the same way she lit up the sky, burning from within.
“No one is in trouble, Eos. It’s good news.” I gulped, trying to figure out how to tell her but not lie to her. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and continued, “I spoke with Persephone and Hades. We get to see him.”
Surprise and anger flared in Helios’ eyes. He stood rock still but did not lower his gaze. I could hear Persephone speaking to him as I buried my face in my hands.
Helios was released, suddenly and hard. He staggered back, staring at his unmarked flesh, rubbing it as the pain receded. His eyes lifted to the black obelisk as it vanished from sight, no longer needed. Helios is bound – Above, Below, and Between. Flesh, Blood, and Bone – forever.
I wandered the shores where I normally expelled my energy, only to find a storm on the horizon. The grey clouds rolled in as the sea churned at my feet, much like the thoughts that ran through my head.
I sat, watching them with an emanating glow. The bond between them grew.. The reunion had gone as I had hoped, and I felt a sense of peace flow through me that I hadn’t felt in eons. Family, home, at last…
I stood calmly, enjoying the view as I felt his indecision ebb and flow. Walking slowly back to my chariot, I pulled the polished wood out, holding it in the air as I returned to the peak where I had been moments before. “I bring you no lies, no reason to distrust me, Melisseus.”
