I watched Nike fly out of one of the other windows on this floor, and though I tried to keep a frown on my face to let her know I wasn’t happy about her disobeying my demand that she use the doors, I couldn’t help but laugh as I heard her shout, “NO KEYS!” I placed a hand lightly on my chest and watched her golden wings shimmer against the moonlight as she dipped and soared against the night.

Minutes later, Zeus wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me lightly on my cheek. “How is she?”

I leaned my head back onto his chest and sighed deeply. “I’m not sure. If she were any other Goddess, I would say she was fine and was only going through our version of puberty, but this is Nike we’re talking about. She’s chosen to freeze her age and purposely keeps herself sheltered from anything she deems as being ‘too much,’ whatever that means.”

“Hmm, so who do I need to smite?”

I laughed. “No one, my heart. She’s only had a very vivid dream of a mortal man she sees occasionally at her place of work.”

Zeus rested his chin on the top of my head and I felt him smile. “So you’re taking care of him.” A statement, not a question, as he knows me so well.

“Of course.” I turned into his arms and kissed his bare chest. “Now, I believe you were in the middle of the story of how you single handedly overthrew our father and I was preparing to show you just how grateful I was to you for rescuing me.” I dropped my robe to the floor, grabbed the lightning bolt tie I demanded that he wear, and pulled him to our oversized mahogany bed.

Zeus growled playfully and chased me, giggling, across the bed. “Yes, my love, let me show you just how I used my sword to penetrate his defences…”
