Know Your Goddess
Hair Color: Varies*
Facial Hair: Varies*
Distinguishing Features: Eyes
Notes* on Physical Appearance: Moxie’s physical attributes vary dependent on whose body she inhabits. She prefers Marilyn Monroe-esque, feminine forms representative of Gaia with an average height of 5’6 – 5’8. She has a preference for blondes since that was her first child body. However, she likes the attention she receives as a redhead. Her eyes often give away her identity to the gods who know her. They are an otherworldly aquaish green-blue, representing the earth and oceans, and dominate the physical characteristics of any body she inhabits.
Parents: Three mothers, no father. Conceived in thought by Gaia; carried by the mortal, Alcina; fostered by Hera.
Siblings: Raised with foster siblings: Ares, Heph and Nike.
CEO of Malakies Marketing Headquartered in The Olympus Administration Building. Tasked with using modern technology and mass marketing to get the word out about the New Olympus Administration.
Most recently took up residence on the 90th floor of the Olympus Administration Building. Generally, exists on the mortal plane and resides wherever her chosen host does.
General Overview: Moxie is generally easy going and observant. She sees the world both as it is and as it could be. Her days are spent seeding humans with ideas so that they begin to use their own powers of creation and become less dependent upon immortals for their survival. Ideally, this would stop them from siding with one god over another, thus avoiding wars and the destruction it brings.
Because she was created in the likeness of Gaia but anchored into mortals, she has a tremendous agape love of both humans and immortals and is often conflicted in her loyalties. While she’s playfully flirtatious and capable of great fiery passion, deep and enduring pragma love has eluded her; she outlives mortals and those immortals she might have bonded with ultimately found her abilities too unsettling or were married off to others for political reasons. This has caused her to withdraw and become something of a loner, focused on her mission.
Deity Nicknames: Moxie, Mox, Moxie-moo
Likes: Enjoys indulging in pleasures of the flesh like bean-brew (coffee) and pampering such as manicures, pedicures, massages. Rationalizes that she’s doing it to take care of her human host. She typically likes and even loves the mortals she inhabits and likes inspiring new ideas.
Dislikes: Has a powerful aversion of the drama and the politics of family gatherings – backbiting, intrigue, arguing. Has a distaste for Aphrodite whose behavior pits her foster brothers against one another for her love. She also resents Aphrodite’s blatant disregard for her affect on mortals who fall all over themselves to please her yet she doesn’t even notice or care and considers it her right.
Flaws / Weaknesses
Skills / Abilities
Limited Immortality – Technically immortal. Immune to the effects of aging, cannot die by any conventional means, and is immune to all known mortal diseases and infections.
However, since she attaches to and inhabits mortal bodies, she suffers whatever is ailing or affecting the host for the duration of her stay there. But, because the mortal is also merged with her presence, her humans tend to be stronger and less impacted by afflictions. Also, the after effects of any possession can bleed into Moxie and carry over for a short period of time causing her to be in a weakened state even after she exits the mortal sometimes limiting her ability to travel or re-enter other humans.
Babble-Speak – Can communicate in all languages and dialects.
Thought Incarnate – As a goddess of thought, Moxie can plant ideas and images into the minds of mortals and often other Gods (who frequently know that she did it because they are naturally more aware and sensitive to her intrusion). She has no control over how the inspired thought plays out which can lead to unintended consequences. The exception is that she can control the outcome if she takes over their body to actually implement an idea. She can also pick up bits and pieces of information from others while she is “in their minds.” Possessing another God who has taken form is extremely rare, but possible if they are in a weakened state or particularly dim witted.
Possession – Moxie appears as an ordinary human when on the mortal plane by taking possession of mortal minds and bodies. This permits her to blend in with humans in all walks of life. The only indication to others that she is in possession is that their eyes, regardless of what color they were before, will turn to an otherworldly color of green-blue aqua. When in immortal battle or to travel quickly, she reverts to her natural deified state – a semi-transparent, white-gold mass of potential energy loosely confined in the form of a human-like female, sometimes mistaken for a ghost.
Moxie can take possession of humans, residing there indefinitely if she chooses or until the host expires, though her very presence can extend their otherwise natural life. Possession of other deities is possible but rare and only for short durations.
Telepathy – Moxie can scan her environment and other’s thoughts for information. It is a useful but imperfect ability unless she’s in possession of the host at which time she has full access to all information known to the host. Other deities are more difficult to scan but can be done if they are distracted or otherwise impaired. Likewise, she is able to plant thoughts and images in the minds of others.
Vining – A quirk of her heritage is that when she is around, her energy affects vegetation and flowers causing them to perk up and become more verdant and colorful. When she focuses her attention on plants, vines in particular, their growth is accelerated to the point that she can use them as a weapon.
Normal Daily Wear: She wears whatever her host would normally wear.
Alternate Dress Wear: She is often naked in an attempt to lighten the load of wearing humans. Also, she has a strong affinity to nature because of her heritage.
Observing the destructive behaviors of both Uranus and Cronus, Gaia recognized the dangers of any immortal holding too much power. It was then that she devised a plan to ensure Zeus’ ultimate victory over Cronus but to also check Zeus’ power so that previous patterns did not repeat themselves. This is when the idea of Moxie was formed.
Conceived in thought by Gaia, Moxie was hidden in a favorite mortal, Alcina, who was pregnant. Alcina carried and delivered Moxie when she gave birth to her own mortal child whose body Moxie possessed until it was time to aid Zeus in overthrowing the Titans. Moxie was instrumental in the Olympian’s victory when she possessed the Cyclops long enough to persuade them to provide weapons and aid to Zeus.
Afterwards, she was given to Hera, her foster mother, to learn the ways of immortals until she matured and came fully into her own powers. In time, Moxie left her Olympian family to carry out Gaia’s wishes to seed humanity with ideas.
Sources: Moxie is an original character conceived by Moxie Malone using documented legends, myths and conception precedence to craft her origin story. Thanks goes to Michael Ryan (Zeus) for wedging her into All in the Pantheon cannon by suggesting her place in overthrowing the Titans through possession of the Cyclops.
Introduction written by Moxie Malone
I hate these things. I’ve managed to fly under the radar for eons then Zeus has another one of his brain farts and now we have a friggin PR firm. So, here I am with a public bio, which defeats the purpose of, you know, remaining anonymous.
I’m the Goddess Moxie, the one you’ve never heard about. Don’t bother pulling out the ancient texts. You won’t find Me there. I’ve scrubbed all references to Me and given credit or blame to the rest of these whack jobs. Seriously, these immortals are insane. The stories I can tell. The stories I will tell.
That’s right, Olympians, et al. If you are going to insist on dragging Me into your dumbass marketing scheme, I’m spilling the beans on the whole damn lot of you. Yeah, I’m looking at you, too, Hera.
“Don’t worry,” she said.
“I can keep you out of it,” she said.
Great job you did there, Hera.
So, more about Me. I’ve spent My existence out of the public eye mainly because it works better that way. If I went around taking credit for all of My amazing work, mortals would never aspire to be more than they are. Instead, they’d just keep leaning on Me or the other Gods to do everything.
Mortals: You really can be lazing, you know that? Anyway, you know that idea that suddenly popped into your head when you were in the shower, on the can, or in the middle of another lackluster night of mediocre sex? It just came out of nowhere, right? Nope. That was Me.
Mach-c. Mock See. Moxie. Get it? No? Mach-c is sound that travels faster than light. That sound is me whispering in your ear dropping some brilliance into your brainpan. Mock See is that image that flashed into your mind’s eye. I put it there. You thought it was you, but it was Me. And I did it all without begging for kudos, adulation, and sacrifices, unlike some other Gods, Goddesses & Muses who shall remain nameless.
They really won’t remain nameless, of course. They don’t have it in them because they are all attention whores. I give it less than a decade before they are over here claiming credit for My handiwork.
Need examples? Okay. Game of Thrones? Mine. American Gods? Hello? Duh. By the way, you’re welcome, too, Neil Gaiman. Also, Fart Jokes. Yup. Me, too. Don’t screw your face up and give me a whiny, “Ewww.” You love them. Of course, I’ve done other things, many other things, and I’ll be taking rightful credit for My ideas in future posts.
In the meantime, in lieu of virgin sacrifices – because we all know how hard it is to find virgins these days, especially when competing with the Bathory crowd – you are invited to show appreciation to your Goddess by treating Me to a coffee or by becoming a patreon. Just click the link and promise a little something to keep Me in coffee and pedicures. I’ve grown fond of that hot beany brew, and maybe I’ll share pics of My lovely tootsies for you foot freaks.
Until next time, remember, you never know when I’ll be whispering in your ear. When I do, get off your lazy butt and act on it, will ya?
