I was in my office at the museum, sitting at my desk. Gripping the pen, I made little shapes on a sticky note as my mind drifted elsewhere. I was having a hard time focusing on anything since I discovered part of my memories were missing. No matter what I did or how hard I tried, nothing came back to me…except for that one scene with my mother and the dagger.

It was frustrating. I knew everyone’s history other than my own.

I placed the pen down on the table, sighing heavily. Maybe I should talk to one of my sisters or my brother about this. Would they know what happened? I stood up from my chair, heading towards a bookshelf. Maybe one of my journals was hiding a clue. I shift through different books quickly, my eyes skimming the pages at an ungodly speed. Nothing. I slam the journal shut, tossing it onto the desk.

Suddenly, I smell something unfamiliar. Turning my head, I see reddish-gray smoke slowly making its way from under the door. It can’t be another Titan…can it? I didn’t think I had enough power in me to fight one on my own.

The smoke crept its way across the wooden floor before lunging at me. I had hardly any time to process what was happening. A wave of memories flooded back to me so quickly that my head began to pulse. I turned away from the bookshelf, grabbing onto the desk. Something was wrong. I stumbled to my private bathroom, flipping on the light switch. I gasped when I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes. They were a kaleidoscope of colors, shimmering in the light. Just like the other night. Now I understood why my eyes had changed. These were…my true eyes. Behind me, I noticed something else come into view and it made my heart drop. Wings…see-through and delicate, just like I remembered them. They rippled with various colors as I slowly flapped them.

W-what happened to me? I asked myself. There was only one way to quickly remember enough of my past. I made eye contact with myself through the mirror, my vision blurring from tears. The room around me vanished as I was taken back into the past once more.

Opening my eyes, I surveyed the scene around me. I laid beside a fire, my head pounding in pain. Where am I? The last thing I remembered was falling asleep with my husband…I sat up sharply, stars blurring my vision as blood rushed from my head. Eros, where is Eros? As my vision cleared, I saw a woman sitting on a chair. She had a slim face and jet black hair. Her dark eyes stared at my own, making me feel like she was searching into my soul. She grinned at me, making my stomach shift with unease.

“Dewdrop,” she purred. “I was wondering when you would wake up.”

My heart rate picked up. That name. It sounded so familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

“Who are you?” I asked her.

She pouted. “Do you not remember your own mother, Clio?”

I shook my head.

“You have the wrong goddess. I am Psyche,” I said. Even though something at the back of my head was screaming for me to get away, I continued to sit as she walked over to me, placing a hand on the side of my head. Her eyes began to glow. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

“Did your memories not return yet?” she questioned. “Let me help you with that, Dewdrop.”

She dug her nails into my head. I screamed loudly, my voice echoing in the cave. My mind felt like it was opened as a flood of memories flowed from the deepest parts of my brain. Clio…I am Clio and my mother…I looked up at her, my eyes glowing red with anger.

“Why did you do this?” I asked her.

Mnemosyne squished my cheeks with her thumb and index finger.

“I told you that if you defied me there would be consequences. Although, I didn’t think your soul would be strong enough to break out of that dagger. No matter. By the end of this, you will not remember your relationship with him, and that thing growing in your stomach will be mine.” She hissed.

I looked down at my stomach in shock.

“You didn’t even know you were pregnant, did you?” she chuckled. “Too bad you will never see her grow up.”

“Eros will find me and our child. You won’t win this,” I said, fighting back my tears. I would not let her feel satisfaction from hurting me again.

She laughed. “Oh, I have already taken care of him. By the end of this, he will despise you.”

My heart sunk deeper into my stomach. I frantically got up, trying to run away. I made it a few steps before I fell flat on my face. A chain, attached to my ankle, stopped me from going any further. I cursed under my breath. My mother’s shoes echoed in the cave as she walked towards me, lowering herself to make eye contact with me. Her fingers trailed down my cheek. I felt the urge to vomit.

“Don’t worry. You won’t remember any of this.”

I smacked her hand and screamed, “You will never touch my child.”

She flipped me onto my back before pressing her hand onto my stomach.

“Oh Dewdrop, it is too late for that…”

The vision faded, and slowly I came back to reality. Looking in the mirror, I still see my wings. The sight made me feel relieved. My eyes stopped glowing but they were still the color I had when I was Psyche…I am Psyche. I was still coming to terms with all these memories but I knew one thing for sure. I needed to find Eros. Then I needed to find my daughter. The last thing I remembered was giving birth to her. My little Hedone. I named her before my mother ripped her from my arms, taking away all my memory of her. I pushed myself off the sink and exited the bathroom. I need to find my daughter. I need to find my…husband. Rushing to my desk, I grabbed a few of my items and stuffed them into my bag.

Suddenly, I heard the door swing open. I looked up from my desk. Standing there, out of breath, was Eros. Our eyes locked on each other, a moment of complete silence passed only punctuated by his ragged breathing. Does he know? Were all the memories flooding through mine also going through his?

“Princissika,” he growled.
